How to insert images from image hosting services into a forum post

The two screenshot tools I recommend are:

1) Jing (free)

2) SnagIt (30 day free trial, but a one-off charge of $50 thereafter)

One of the main benefits of these tools is that they allow you to upload your screenshot to an image hosting service (such as Screencast), and then have the shared URL placed in your clipboad......all in a single click of a button.

As you saw from the video above, the URL you get back from SnagIT or Jing is the URL for a webpage which has your image within it, and is NOT the image URL itself.
In order to get the image URL, you need to open up a new web browser window (Ctrl-N), select the address bar (Ctrl-L), paste in the Screencast shared URL (Ctrl-V), and finally right-click on the image and select "copy image address".
That will give you the image URL.

Once you've got the image URL. you then:

a) on the forum post you either click on the image button, or hit Ctrl-P:

b) select "by URL" and then paste in the image URL:

I e-mailed you about having resolution issues from time to time when going through the course. The Screencast (Snagit, I gather?) images were always crystal clear even when I had to zoom out enough to view them on my MS Word doc.

What is the benefit(s) of Snagit that might make that one-time charge worthwhile?
